New Beginnings Follow Endings

"G-maw," as we all called her, lived to be 92 years of age. She is the matriarch of a very large family... 10 children, 41 grandchildren, and 49 great-grandchildren. With much honor and respect, we love our g-maw.
This was the first trip to Ohio I had made in almost thirteen years. I had not seen my extended "Ohio" family in way too long. This trip was truly memorable.
We departed to Ohio on Monday, December 26. I traveled with my mom, my sisters (Shaye, Nissa, and Marta), my brothers (William and Jeff), and Nissa's husband (Ryan). The eight of us, along with eleven other family members from California, all flew to Columbus on the same plane. We pretty much took over the flight!!!! We arrived late at night in Columbus and stayed the whole five days at my g-maw's home. There were actually 29 of us staying in that home, but don't worry... the house is huge. We managed to survive!!_____________________________________________________________
Here I am standing at the street corner just outside my G-Maw's home!

This is a bittersweet loving memory. And I am so glad to see it. There we are...all snuggled together in front of my childhood home and my mother's home for 54 years until she passed away at almost 93 years of age. I love her and miss her with all of my heart. Our childhood home is being sold in the spring. I am so happy to have this photo with all my kids snuggled around me, before their departure back to California. Thanks Tristan for creating this spot. Love, MOM

I really love this photo with Tristan standing at the corner of G-Maw's home with the Haddon Street and Roosevelt Avenue sign. So many happy memories of growing up on those two streets flood my mind. Riding bikes with friends, playing 4-square, playing jacks and 7-up, and baseball, basketball, our 4th of July parades (with neighborhood kids dressed in full costume with costumes provided by my mom and dad) and mom and dad would lead the way in their car honking their horn and slowly going up and down many streets while people in their homes would come out on their front porches to watch and wave their approval to us!! We would ice skate up Haddon Road on frozen winter streets on the way to Twin Lakes to go ice-skating with friends. We would build bon-fires on the bank of the lake to keep warm and also to roast marshmallows. Our clothes would smell of smoke when we would return home. We would defrost our toes on the heat-vents in our home when we returned too. And mom would let us make hot chocolate to warm our insides. So much to remember on these precious streets! Thanks again Tristan for the photo and allowing me to share my memories! I love all of my kids! Hope you enjoy hearing about all of my wondeful memories.
Love, MOM

I really enjoyed having my 'long-lost'(smile) relatives home. I know Grandma was pleased to see us all together. I wish we could get together more often.
Some wondered how it would go since we hadn't seen each other in so long and weren't sure if we still had things in common. We soon found out that the threads of family are tied tight with love, and Grandma's family afghan was still close-knit.
