German Village
Back when my family and I were in Columbus, Ohio celebrating the life of my G-Ma McFadden, we had the chance to spend a few hours in "German Village." The German Village is a really neat place. It is a few blocks large, the streets are made of cobble stone, and some of the buildings are one hundred twenty+ years old. My great-great grandmother (called "Mutter" by all the family) was one of the original residents of this town. Her home still stands in German Village and is now the home of a lawyer.
While we were there, we ate lunch at Schmidts Sausage Haus...

...and let me tell you, it was the best German food I have ever had (of course, I've only been to ONE other German Restaurant, but the statement still stands true :-)
My cousin Christian McFadden met us at the restaurant to hang out. This was our last outing before our flight back home to California. I ordered some sort of a saurkraut, rueben sandwich... and I topped it off with the biggest and best cream puff ever!!! Fun times!

I just LOVE your blogspot! I always seem to get a wonderful surprise everytime I visit. it is so good to see all of you in German Village. Of course growing up in Columbus, you know, meant that German Village was a big part of my experiences...especially since "Mutter" was the first to come from Germany to settle in the U.S. and then others followed her here later. But she was only 18 years old when she came to the U.S. and also married at that young age and of course we descended from her. We have such an interesting legacy here in German Village. Thanks for warming my heart once again. MOM
